Increasing the Performance of TIG Welding through the High-Performance InFocus Process
The high-performance InFocus process sets new standards in the world of TIG welding. The applications range from welding the thinnest foils to one-ply tap hole welding of 10mm thick sheets with up to 1,000A. Through the innovative torch design and patented electrode design, the arc characteristics of the conventional TIG process are drastically changed. As a result, the energy density of the workpiece, the pressure on the molten bath and the stability of the arc are increased.
The aim of the diploma thesis is to increase the efficiency of the InFocus process even further. For this purpose, the interactions between the burner design, the electrode design and the arc need to be investigated in a highly specialized laboratory environment and implemented in new solution approaches.
