Management Shell for Energy Flexible Factory Operation (VerEFab)

(BMBF funding code 01IS19049, funding period 01.04.2020 to 31.03.2022)

The goal of the project is to extend the BaSyx software system to an open middleware to network IoT platforms with the factory level. The consortium of Fraunhofer IGCV, MicroStep, TEKA, EDC, Industry Business Network 4.0, stürmsfs AG and OSCAR PLT is thus pursuing the goal of a networked energy-flexible factory that can meet future economic and ecological challenges. In future, in addition to plant utilization, energy-related parameters such as the current electricity price on the electricity exchange or the avoidance of energy peaks within the factory should also be included in order planning.

The basis will be the integration of manufacturing resources by means of a management shell. The concept of the management shell, as the digital twin of a physical resource, offers the possibility of providing the relevant information and describing new functions. The open design offers the possibility within this project to build up the management shell according to the needs of the application and thus to create the IT framework.
