New variants of the ProFocus LaserCell Compact: a compact laser cell becomes a flexible product family

With the ProFocus LaserCell Compact, OSCAR PLT already offers a turnkey laser cell for laser deposition welding, metal 3D printing, repair, and coating of small to medium-sized components.

Now we are taking the next step: the compact laser cell is becoming a product family.

In addition to the version already presented, two further variants will be available in the future, creating even more flexibility for different component sizes, production environments, and application scenarios. The central idea remains the same: a compact, practical, and plug-and-play laser welding concept that makes it easier to get started with modern laser processing. At the same time, the new variants can be adapted even more specifically to customer requirements.

More space for larger components: Compact Cell with extended working area

The first new variant is aimed at users who want to use a compact laser cell but require more space for larger components.

In this version, the integrated operator niche is omitted. This creates an extended working area with a larger welding table. The advantage: customers can continue to rely on a compact, turnkey laser welding system while gaining significantly more space for larger workpieces, more complex clamping fixtures, or components with more demanding geometries.

Operation is carried out via a separate operator station. What may initially sound like a technical modification offers additional freedom in practice: the position, layout, and equipment of the operator station can be individually adapted to the production environment. Additional control elements or customer-specific operating concepts can also be integrated more easily.

This creates a solution for companies looking for a compact laser cell without having to make unnecessary compromises when it comes to component size.

Maximum freedom of movement: Compact Cell for mobile processing without a laser safety enclosure

In this version, the modular design is retained: a media module with LSI, cooling, and robot control forms the technical basis. The main module is designed without a laser safety hood. The robot and welding table are open at the top, allowing the robot to move with a particularly high degree of freedom.

This opens up new possibilities for large, long, or very wide components. These can be clamped directly onto the welding table. Depending on the application, it is even possible to position components next to the module and process them there.

This makes the variant particularly suitable for bulky, large-format, or stationary components where a conventional closed compact cell reaches its limits. In this configuration, the compact laser cell becomes a flexible mobile processing cell for demanding repair, coating, and laser deposition welding applications.

A product family for different requirements

With the new variants, the ProFocus LaserCell Compact is evolving into a small product family. The common core remains the same: OSCAR PLT combines ProFocus technology, robotics, process expertise, and coordinated system technology to create a practical solution for industrial laser processing.

The new variants are now configurable on request. As with all OSCAR PLT solutions, the focus is not only on the system itself, but on the customer’s specific application: Which components need to be processed? Which geometries and dimensions are relevant? What requirements exist in terms of operation, safety, process control, and integration into production?
