ProFocus goes mobile: On-site repair of large components
Large components such as engine blocks, wind turbine components or other structures that are difficult to move can only be removed, transported and repaired with considerable effort.
With the mobile version of the ProFocus system, OSCAR PLT brings repair welding directly to the component.

Together with Wärtsilä, the mobile solution was presented at SMM Hamburg. At the heart of the system is the proven ProFocus technology for Laser Metal Deposition with Wire, which is used for repair, cladding and additive material build-up.
Low penetration and low dilution protect the base material and keep the heat-affected zone small. This opens up entirely new repair possibilities even for materials that are difficult or conventionally almost impossible to weld – especially large cast components.

Developed for direct use on the component
For mobile applications, the system around the ProFocus welding head has been designed to be compact and lightweight.
The low system weight, excellent accessibility, reliable shielding gas coverage and the option of working with small robots enable our customers to use the system even in confined environments – for example in engine rooms, on board vessels or directly on large industrial structures.
Proven under real-world conditions
The technology has already been used in practical applications. Together with Wärtsilä:

| • | two real-world on-site repairs were carried out on operating vessels |
ProFocus therefore demonstrates that demanding repair welding operations do not necessarily have to take place in a stationary workshop.
