Variants of the ProFocus LaserCell Compact: From a compact laser cell to a flexible product family

With the ProFocus LaserCell Compact, OSCAR PLT already offers a turnkey laser cell for laser deposition welding, metal 3D printing, repair, and coating of small to medium-sized components.

Now we are taking the next step: the compact laser cell is becoming a product family.

In addition to the version already presented, two further variants will be available in the future, creating even more flexibility for different component sizes, production environments, and application scenarios. The central idea remains the same: a compact, practical, and plug-and-play laser welding concept that makes it easier to get started with modern laser processing. At the same time, the new variants can be adapted even more specifically to customer requirements.

More space for larger components: Compact Cell with extended working area

The first new variant is aimed at users who want to work with a compact, turnkey laser cell but require a larger working volume.

In this design, the operator niche is omitted. This creates an enlarged work area and space for a larger welding table. The advantage: customers can continue to rely on a compact, turnkey laser welding system while gaining the ability to handle larger workpieces, more complex fixtures, or components with demanding geometries.

Operation is carried out via a separate operator console, as with our WeldingCell. What initially sounds like a purely technical modification actually opens up additional freedom in practice: position, layout, and equipment of the operator console can be adapted precisely to the production environment. Additional control elements or customer-specific operating concepts can also be integrated more easily.

The result is a solution for companies looking for a compact laser cell without having to accept unnecessary compromises in available space.

Maximum freedom of movement: Compact Cell for mobile processing without a laser safety enclosure

The second new variant extends the concept even further towards flexible and mobile laser processing.

Here, the modular design is retained: a media module containing the LSI, chiller, and robot controller forms the technical basis. The main module is implemented without a laser safety enclosure. The robot and welding table are open at the top, giving the robot significantly more freedom of movement.

This opens up new possibilities for large-volume components or for work carried out directly on worn parts in situ. Depending on the application, components are clamped on the table or positioned next to the module and processed there.

This makes the variant suitable wherever a classic closed robot cell reaches its limits. This flexible, mobile processing cell is ideal for demanding repair, coating, and laser cladding applications.

A product family for different requirements

With the new variants, the ProFocus LaserCell Compact is evolving into a small product family. The common core remains the same: OSCAR PLT combines ProFocus technology, robotics, process expertise, and coordinated system technology to create a practical solution for industrial laser processing.

This makes the ProFocus LaserCell Compact even more flexible in use – from a compact entry point into laser deposition welding to an application-specific configured solution for larger components.

Configurable from now on

The new variants are now configurable. As with all OSCAR PLT solutions, the focus is not only on the system itself, but on the customer’s specific application: Which components need to be processed? Which geometries and dimensions are relevant? What requirements exist in terms of operation, safety, process control, and integration into production?
