InFocus

WIG quality. Welded significantly more productively.

InFocus is designed for welding tasks where TIG weld quality is required – but standard TIG is too slow, too wide, or does not achieve enough penetration.

The focused InFocus arc brings the energy more concentrated into the weld. This enables higher welding speeds, deeper penetration, and more stable weld shapes, without giving up the typical advantages of TIG welding: clean seams, well-controlled heat input, and high process stability.

For your production, this means: you stay with a proven TIG process while gaining significantly more productivity and process reliability – especially for automated longitudinal, circumferential, flange, and component welds.

When InFocus is the right choice

InFocus is especially worthwhile when standard TIG is basically the right process, but reaches its limits in practice.

Typical situations:

TIG weld quality should be maintained, but the welding speed is too low.
Standard TIG does not achieve sufficient penetration.
The weld becomes too wide, although a deeper, narrower seam is required.
The arc is deflected in flange, corner, or thick-thin joints.
Single-pass welding should be possible with less effort.
The process should run automatically and not depend on manual welding experience.
Aluminium should be welded productively and with lower emissions using InFocus Pluspole.

What makes InFocus different

With standard TIG welding, the energy distribution is often wider. Under higher requirements, this can lead to insufficient penetration, slower welding speeds, or an unfavourable weld shape.

This is exactly where InFocus comes in: the arc is bundled and stabilised more strongly. This creates higher arc pressure on the weld pool. The energy acts more precisely where it is needed – in the weld.

Depending on the application, this enables:

Faster welding through higher energy density in the arc
Deeper, narrower welds
Keyhole welding up to 10 mm sheet thickness
More stable arc guidance with challenging geometries
Less rework thanks to better controlled weld formation
Higher process reliability in automated systems

Your benefits in welding production

More speed
InFocus increases productivity where TIG is already established – without switching to a fundamentally different welding process.
Deeper penetration
The concentrated arc supports narrow, deeper welds and a better balance between weld width and penetration depth.
Stable guidance
In flange joints, corner welds, or thick-thin transitions, InFocus stabilises the arc column and makes the process more robust.
Easy to automate
InFocus is designed for mechanised and automated welding processes – for example in robotic systems, CNC systems, or circumferential welding systems.
Easy replacement
The robust torch design with only a few wear parts simplifies handling and supports a constant electrode position.

Typical applications

InFocus is not a cladding system and not a 3D build-up process. The focus is clearly on TIG joint welding – wherever clean seams, stable penetration, and automated process control are required.

Longitudinal welds on sheets, profiles, and hollow sections
Circumferential welds on pipes, vessels, or rotationally symmetrical components
Flange joints
Corner welds
Thick-thin joints
Single-pass keyhole welding
Automated conduction welding
Aluminium welds with InFocus Pluspole

Depending on the application, suitable materials include high-alloy steels, duplex steels, nickel and nickel-based alloys, copper, titanium, and aluminium with InFocus Pluspole.

The InFocus variants

InFocus 500
The compact torch for tight component situations.

InFocus 500 is suitable for applications where good accessibility is essential. The torch is particularly slim and can therefore be used where larger torches are difficult to position.

Suitable for:

Tight welding positions
Automated applications with limited installation space
Components with difficult accessibility
Processes up to 500 A

Customer benefit: high TIG performance in a compact torch format.

InFocus 1000
The high-performance torch for deep, stable welds.

InFocus 1000 is the powerful variant for demanding automated TIG welding processes. It is designed for high current capacity, robust process control, and industrial use.

Suitable for:

Keyhole welding
Larger sheet thicknesses
High welding speeds
Automated series processes
Applications up to 1000 A

Customer benefit: more power and deeper penetration, without giving up TIG weld quality.

InFocus Pluspole
For productive TIG welding of aluminium.

InFocus Pluspole was developed for aluminium. The process enables single-pass aluminium welds up to 8 mm and reduces noise, smoke, and deposits compared to many conventional processes.

Suitable for:

Aluminium sheets
Single-pass butt joints
Applications where MIG is too coarse and standard TIG is too slow
Productive aluminium welds with clean TIG characteristics

Customer benefit: weld aluminium faster, without compromising on clean TIG weld quality.

Technology: why the arc makes the difference

The special feature of InFocus is not a complicated system architecture, but the arc itself.

Through torch design, electrode design, and targeted cooling, the arc is concentrated more strongly at the electrode tip. The arc column is stabilised, energy density increases, and the pressure on the weld pool rises.

This has a direct effect on the weld:

Heat input becomes more focused.
The weld can penetrate deeper.
Weld width can be reduced.
The weld pool is influenced in a more controlled way.
The arc remains more stable at higher speeds.
Keyhole formation becomes possible.

This makes InFocus especially interesting for companies that do not simply want to use “more current”, but need a more targeted and stable TIG process.

From weld task to the right process

With InFocus, the design process starts not with the torch, but with the weld.

Together, we check:

Which material is being welded?
What sheet thickness and weld shape are involved?
Is conduction welding or keyhole welding required?
Which welding speed is realistic?
How good is the component accessibility?
Which guidance system is available?
Which shielding gas coverage is required?
Is InFocus 500, InFocus 1000, or InFocus Pluspole the right variant?

The specific weld determines which torch variant, process control, and shielding gas coverage make sense.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you have questions about our company, our products or our services? Then you've come to the right place.

InFocus is a high-performance TIG welding process for automated joint welding. The arc is focused and stabilised, enabling higher welding speeds, deeper welds, and improved weld shape compared to standard TIG welding.

Standard TIG provides high weld quality, but is often slower and limited in penetration. InFocus maintains the typical advantages of TIG while increasing the energy density in the arc and the pressure on the weld pool. This allows welds to be performed more productively, with deeper penetration and greater stability.

InFocus 500 is the compact torch for applications with limited installation space and good accessibility. InFocus 1000 is the more powerful variant for demanding automated TIG welding processes, larger sheet thicknesses, deep penetration, and applications up to 1000 A.

InFocus is suitable for automated TIG joint welding, for example longitudinal welds, circumferential welds, flange joints, corner welds, thick-thin joints, conduction welding, and single-pass keyhole welding. The focus is on stable, reproducible welds in mechanised or automated welding processes.

Depending on the application, InFocus is suitable for high-alloy steels, duplex steels, nickel and nickel-based alloys, copper, and titanium, among others. For aluminium, InFocus Pluspole is the suitable variant, as it was specifically developed for productive TIG welding of aluminium.
